CommentaryOctober 31, 2011 - This article addresses the factors that led to the Crash of 1929 and details the aftermath in the financial industry. There are many parallels between the investment trusts of the 1920's and the hedge fund industry today. Investors have flocked to fixed income over the past few years in record numbers. This article reviews the current fixed income environment and concludes that fixed income as a whole is not in a classic "bubble" With little regulation of the level of correlation between a fund and a given benchmark, investors can be easily misled by relative fund performance when presented with an innacurate benchmark. SMA platforms, such as IPC, offer a transparent wrap fee structure, a fiduciary responsibility, and team of specialists who have an aligned interest with the client.
